Usually a jock is mean on the outside, and because of peer pressure, they’re even worse on the inside. That’s not the reason he’s insensitive towards some people though. Keyword being ‘some’, as he isn’t rude to everyone. It’s not even a matter of getting on his good side, saying what he wants to hear, it’s about being yourself. Being truthfully yourself and not someone you would see in a magazine. He’s very intelligent and isn’t afraid to show it. He knows the cheerleaders exist, him being a basketball player and all, but he doesn’t care. Derek is romantic, I guess you could say. He’s a virgin, yes, he believes in trusting someone before you give them the one thing you can never take back. He’s had plenty of girlfriends but that all stopped a few months ago. His last one seemed perfect. Very sweet, beautiful, energetic. That was all an act, though. She was a cheerleader, no doubt, but he had thought she was different. He broke up with her, breaking his own heart. It wasn’t that she wasn’t honest about everything she did; she was faithful and 100% trustworthy. It was the fact that she couldn’t be herself around him, and that hurt him. He broke down completely, he wasn’t that bad… was he? So, then there was the murder house. On a dare, he went in there once in 6th grade. Terrified, he went in and a few moments later emerged from the darkness and vowed never to go in there again. Though, now that other people live in there, he’s decided that it’s time to approach the house that had given him so many restless nights, nightmares of what he had seen while on his very short tour of the house.
